Charlottesville VA Cake Smash

One of my favorite types of sessions is a cake smash!ย  It’s a great way to celebrate a baby’s first birthday.ย  I got to meet this cute guy:

John wasn’t the hugest fan of us making him sit still, but once we put the cake in front of him, it captured his attention.

The cute hat was bought by his mom.ย  I loved the colors, and I put together a banner to pick up the colors, but John’s mom liked the idea of a more neutral background.ย  I love putting together color schemes for these types of shoots, so if you are thinking of a cake smash session, but aren’t sure of how to lay it out, let me know!ย  We’ve got lots of options in our studio.

This was the first time I used this gray backdrop for a cake smash, and I really love how it let’s the colors pop.ย  And I just love him in his little jeans!Charlottesville Cake Smash

And realize there was a hat on his head that had to come off.

And get all in on that cake!

John probably had a bit more fun playing in the cake (and watching his mom eat some to encourage him) than actually eating the cake, but that’s the type of cake smash I love.ย  <3 Charlottesville Cake Smash
