Sarah + Alex: Married! | Charlottesville Weddings

Yes, I am notorious for posting my blog posts, like, a year after the fact.ย  This one I’m doing on purpose, although admittedly, a day late.ย  I had put this together for a blog post a few months ago and realized, I should make sure to post this for Sarah + Alex on their anniversary!ย  Well, missed it by a day, but my heart is in the right place.ย  ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  Here’s my one year late blog post:

As usual, my disclaimer is, nope, still not a wedding photographer!ย  But why, Amy, do I see all these wedding photos on your page then, you ask?ย  Well, one of my favorite “gigs” is being a second shooter for Beth of 3 Cats Photography for the past 3 years.ย  She, her friend Beth (we’re “BAB” for short, ha), and I have such a great time together, and Beth gets the BEST clients.ย  However, this time was a little different, *I* brought in one of the best clients.ย  You may recognize Sarah and Alex from an engagement shoot I did prior, and may remember the background story:ย  Sarah was my daughter Piper’s 3rd grade teacher!ย  We ended up getting to know one another well because we took home her class rabbit, Stuart, almost every weekend, which turned into all summer, which turned into…well, I stole a 3rd grade class’s pet bunny and he’s now retired (you can follow his current adventures with his love, Raven, HERE).ย  We had so much fun talking (including with her co-teacher, Lindsey) after school when we’d pick up Stuart, that we got to know one another well.ย  Fast forward to her excited text telling me & Piper that her long time boyfriend, Alex, had proposed!ย  Fast forward from there, and Beth and I figured out a plan how we could work together to photograph Sarah’s wedding:ย  I stayed the whole day, and Beth came in for bulk of the middle of the day to work her magic.ย  Then, instead of the usual as a second (I shoot, send Beth my images), Beth sent me her images and I edited them.ย  Add in the fact that Piper was also a flower girl for the wedding (along with her friend Lydia, another fellow student, and Lydia’s sister Clara), and we had a BLAST.

Everything was wonderful about this wedding for me.ย  I was there to witness friends marry.ย  I was there to watch my daughter be a flower girl for the first time (she LOVED it).ย  I got to work with a couple who LOVE taking pictures and had adventure in their spirit…we were piled in Beth’s car to drive up to the barn to get a photo Sarah wanted SO bad (and I’ll brag and say, is still the cover photo on Early Mountain Vineyard’s wedding page).ย  Once we got to the cocktail hour & reception, I got to party a bit with my husband & Piper (so no, usually you do NOT see the wedding photographer with a glass of wine in her hand, so I was a photographer & guest at the same time, ha).ย  Then we enjoyed some photos at the Carpe Donut cart, and Piper waited it out with me through the sparkler exit.ย  Truly the end to a perfect day!

See 3 Cat’s blog post for more images and details…the images below are ones I took, so you’ll miss a bulk of the wedding if you don’t go over to see Beth’s blog post. So go check it out, and the vendors listed below who helped make this day happen!ย  You can also see more of my wedding work HERE.
