Little George | Petite Newborn Session
Our “Petite Newborn Session” is a special type of session we offer for those busy parents who want to capture their new addition to their family…but for any set of reasons, may not be able or want to do a long, “sleepy baby”, prop-heavy type newborn session we often do.ย Sometimes it’s just because life gets in the way, and the parents don’t get to schedule a session within the first 10 days of life (which is what we recommend for typical deluxe newborn sessions).ย Maybe they have a delay in being able to bring their new baby home, be it because of adoption or perhaps special needs that keep the little ones in the hospital for a bit longer.ย Or maybe you just wish for a simple, less complex session that centers around your family and capturing those sweet moments without a lot of extraneous details?
Perhaps it was a bit of that for Kyla and her family, but with 3 older brothers, when young George arrived, life got busier and busier.ย However, I’m always happy to do any sort of newborn photos for those “not quite” a newborn (George was about 1 month old) but still an itty bitty.ย I am always happy to try a traditional newborn session for a baby up to a month old, but after that it is pretty difficult to achieve the super-bendy, sleepy baby poses of a 7 day old…but in no way does that mean it’s too late for pictures!ย NEVER think it’s too late, we always work to schedule something even if time got by or any other issues arise that create any sort of delay.
Meet the H family, with so many wonderful boys (who were all so delightful) and proud parents.
Kyla and I spoke back and forth for a bit to schedule, and I set to travel down to Richmond to meet the gorgeous family.ย We agreed a petite session was just perfect for George, who was so very alert and happy.ย Which makes for wonderful newborn pictures as well…especially when he can really grab you with those gorgeous brown eyes!
We stepped outside on a rather temperate fall day in November, which worked in our favor to get some nice family shots.
The big brothers, of course, adore their youngest sibling.
Their gorgeous Richmond home allowed for some sweet locations for family photo ops.
We came back in for just a few more shots of George on his own.ย For a “Petite Session”, I’ll bring a few wraps and furry rugs for just a few shots, but mostly this is a lifestyle session, designed to capture your baby in a more natural element.
