Ruby Beauty | Charlottesville 1 Year Old Photography

Ruby finished out her year of sessions on a rainy day in February.  But you’d never know it was still winter, with this sweet face in your life.

Ruby has been an absolute joy to photograph.  I tell her parents that she has been my “muse”…I always find that somewhere, somehow, a picture of her sneaks into my Facebook Covers, or my business cards, or my product samples.  I just can’t resist her beautiful blue eyes, and her most expressive face!

She was a true treat…just look at her from newborn to 1 year…if ever there was a series image that showed how much more mobile and expressive a baby becomes in that first year, this is it!

It’s almost like she’s climbing up her mom!  😉

A fun 1 Year photoshoot involves just using the surroundings of his or her life…and one of these is Ruby’s kitties. 

Just crawling across the bed can be an adventure for a 1 year old.

I was pleased that Ruby’s dad was available to take some photos with Ruby as well.

And I know I’ve mentioned this before, but Ruby’s mom, Darlene, makes a lot of Ruby’s clothes, and has made some of my backdrops as well!  Check out her blog, “Natural Violet“, for more information.  We already talk about newborn and baby props…how fun to have someone local who can make a customized setup!  I feel a business partnership in the works.  😉

I mentioned “expressive”, right?

And some of the last of our comparison series…here Ruby is at newborn, 3 months, 8 months, and a year!  And of course, Darlene made the hat (the newborn one still barely fit at 3 months, but she had to make a new one for 8 months & 12 months, respectively).

Ah, those eyes.  She IS my muse!

And one last comparison shot:

The cake smash was saved for last.  Darlene made a gorgeous heart-shaped cake (nice for Valentine’s day, which Ruby’s birthday falls near).  

Ruby wasn’t sure what to make of it.

But she figured it out, and ate a bit.

But she was VERY clean about it..not a huge mess for this photoshoot!  In fact, she had more fun, I think, mushing a roll of ribbon into the cake than eating it, as you can see by her big smile!

After the cake smash, then Ruby cleaned up and we waited for Jonas, her big brother, to get home from school.  Jonas was good to pose some for me, too (WHAT a darling!!!).

And we finished up the shoot with a lovely family photo!
